If you are looking for the best Sex on the Beach drink recipe, you are in the right place. I’ll teach you everything you need to know about this famous drink and how to make one. Your friends will love it!

When I make the Sex on the Beach for my friends, I always tell them, you’ll take one sip then you’ll be rolling around in the sand. Maybe a little lame, but it gets them excited for the drink.

Is this drink as good as good as its name? I’m not sure, that’s a lot to live up to. This seductive little libation is popular at bars everywhere, so maybe there is something to that name.

It’s not my go-to favorite cocktail recipe (peach schnapps makes me quiver), but after a few cold Coronas I’m liable to do things I shouldn’t.

Sex on the Beach Recipe

  • 1 1/2 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz peach schnapps
  • 2 oz cranberry juice
  • 2 oz orange juice

How To Make Sex on the Beach

Pour all the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes. Shake well. Strain into a highball glass. Garnish with the orange slice and maraschino cherry. Raise glass and toast.

Some variations use pineapple juice, but most use orange juice.

History of the Drink

A variety of stories have been attributed to the invention of this drink.

One account states that in 1987, the drink was created in response to a contest, which was carried out to highlight and sell peach schnapps. A bartender in Florida, was credited with devising the concoction, and naming it after the favorite Spring-break pastimes of visiting college students.

The San Francisco Chronicle attributed the cocktail to a group of students, from the University of Vermont, in the early 1980s.

Regardless of where, when and how the Sex on the Beach beverage came to be, it remains a popular drink with a catchy name.
