Barbuda is a secluded undeveloped island, part of a three-island state with Antigua and Redonda, part of the British West Indies. The beauty of Barbuda is in its natural, peaceful way of life. It is not for visitors who are looking for sophisticated nightlife, it is a place where you relax, slow down and make your own entertainment. In Barbuda you will see an island that is unspoiled by tourism. It is renowned for its beaches which stretch for miles and miles and are sprinkled with pink sand.

This Photo Friday photo grabbed me. I think it’s the contrast between the storm moving across the sky and the sun drenched beach, untouched and pure. In one hand you have turbulence and the other you have a calm peace. Makes for an inspiring photo.

It also reminds me of a favorite Chesney song, “Spirit of a Storm”. I think if you could put this photo to song, this would be it…

There’s a spirit of a storm in my soul
A restlessness that I can’t seem to take
The thunder and lightning
follow everywhere I go
There’s a spirit of a storm in my soul.

There is a hurricane that’s raging through my blood
And I can’t find a way to calm the sea
Maybe I’ll find someday the waters aren’t so rough
But right now they’ve got the best of me.

But oh it’s been a long long time
Since I’ve had real peace of mind
So I’m just gunna sit right here
In this ol’ chair, til this ol’ storm rolls by.

Oh maybe it’s just the way I am
Maybe I won’t ever change
So I’m just gunna sit right here
In this ol’ chair and just soak up the rain

There’s a spirit of a storm in my soul
Everytime I think it’s gone away,
The dark clouds gather,
That ol’ wind begins to blow
The sun is going to shine someday I hope

There is a spirit of a storm in my soul
In my soul

What does this photo say to your island soul?

This photo was taken by Frank and Karen Taylor, owners of the catamaran PatiCat.

After rereading this post I realized it has a bit of a somber tone. I really wasn’t going for that, it’s Friday, we all should be happy and in a good mood!

Have a great weekend Castaways.

Cheers,
