Salt Life Caribbean Youtube channel

I had never heard of Chuck Wicks before a couple weeks ago. I’m not a huge country music fan and I don’t watch Dancing With The Stars which are Chuck’s claims to fame. Then my buddy from Kansas City, whom is a huge country music fan, sent me a song called “Salt Life.”

The song title caught my attention so I gave it a listen. As soon as the song finished I knew I’d be writing about it. It has that easy going vibe to it that makes you want to have your toes in the sand on your favorite St. Somewhere. It’s a lifestyle song, just like how being a Caribbean Castaway is a lifestyle, it’s just who you are. You can give the song a listen and see the lyrics below.

Who is Chuck Wicks and How Did Salt Life Come About?

After a not so successful college baseball career at Florida Southern College, Chuck followed his love of songwriting and music to Nashville. After four years of parking cars at night and writing songs during the day Chuck landed a record deal.

His first breakthrough single was called “Stealing Cinderella,” from his debut album “Starting Now.”  Chuck followed that up with his release of his EP album titled “Rough.”  The first single, “Salt Life,” is one that is custom made for the spring and summer months. Here’s what Chuck had to say about Salt Life.

“I sat down to write with Vicky McGehee and Mike Mobley, who are friends with Kenny Chesney, and we were going to write for his new island record. I started thinking, and asked if anyone had ever written a song called ‘Salt Life.’ They said no, and I said we had to write it. That’s how it started, and it just kind of wrote itself. It’s a lifestyle,” he said.

As you probably know Salt Life is also a lifestyle brand that includes those stickers you see on the backs of cars, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and lots of other beach gear. Chuck played his song for the owners of the Salt Life brand and they loved it. The two have teamed up and are working on a video and other promotions.

Chuck Wicks Salt Life Lyrics

Feet up, anchor down
Thirty sun block
Getting rubbed around your body
Too hot, dive in
Take a little swim
Float around out in the water
Aw what do you say
We stay all day right here
Where the sun sets on tan lines
Footprints on low tide
Boardwalk band plugging in for the night
Party boats are tying up
Cabo drinks are getting drunk
It’s all good
It’s all right
Just getting high
On a salt life
On a salt life
Cool Breeze, palm trees
Start to feel ease of a beer buzz and I like it
A little too much
And all i wanna do is stay right here, right here with you, with you and baby
Soak it up
Don’t you love days like this
Where the sun sets on tan lines
Footprints on low tide
Boardwalk band plugging in for the night
Party boats are tying up
Cabo drinks are getting drunk
It’s all good
It’s all right
Just getting high
On a salt life
On a salt life
Beach bums
Party flip flop
No tick tock on a snowbirds watch
Never stops, It never stops, it never stops
Where the sun sets on tan lines
Footprints on low tide
Boardwalk band plugging in for the night
Party boats are tying up
Cabo drinks are getting drunk
It’s all good
It’s all right
Just getting high
On a salt life
On a salt life Feel so good to live a salt life
