After one sip, you’ll be on the fast boat headin’ south.

Today is the last day to submit your drink recipe for the Key West Express Drink Contest. Tomorrow I’ll be compiling all the recipe and getting with the staff of the Key West Express to pick the 5 finalists. Then it’s on to the taste challenge to pick the winner.

Do you want to go to Key West for free aboard the Key West Express? Do you know how to mix a drink? Then what are you waiting for! Give your recipe a name that relates to Key West or the Key West Express, give me the ingredients, how to mix it, and the story behind it if you have one.

How to Enter

Place your newly created cocktail recipe  in the comment section below or on the RumShopRyan Facebook page. Entries will be accepted for one week (June 24th-July 1st). The cocktail recipes will be compiled and 5 finalists will be chosen. A live taste test will be held and the winner announced  on July 8th.

We would ideally like the winner to take the boat down to Key West sometime in the next two months. Though the tickets will be good till the end of the year, expiring December 20th.

The Previous Winner

Today’s boat drink recipe is a throwback from a few years ago and the last winner of the Key West Express Drink Contest. The winning recipe came from Castaway Kevin S. and it’s appropriately called the Express De-stress.

Watch as Charles, A.k.A. BigKahunaBrew, and I mix up a Express De-stress on the sand of Siesta Key Beach.

Express De-Stress cocktail recipe by Castaway Kevin Sorrels

  • 2 oz Siesta Key Dark Rum
  • 4 oz pineapple juice
  • Juice of a half lime
  • Dash of Bitters
  • Splash of Grenadine
  • Nutmeg Sprinkle

Mixing Instructions: Shake and strain rum, pineapple juice and lime juice over crushed ice. Float a splash of Grenadine. A dash of bitters and a touch of nutmeg. Raise glass and toast.

I think you can tell from the video that we loved the taste of the Express De-stress. Charles and I were quite happy and we continued drinking this wonderful cocktail for the rest of the afternoon.

The taste and the name propelled this cocktail to the top during the first Key West Express Drink Contest, is your cocktail going to do the same for this one? Get those recipes in, today is the last day!

Cheers and good luck!
