The Best Beach Bar in Nassau, Bahamas – Sandy Toes Beach Bar, Rose Island

Believe it or not, being a rum judge at Rum Bahamas Festival is hard work. And when this pirate needs a break from that hard work, I head to the beach bar. And when in Nassau, my beach bar of choice is Sandy Toes on Rose Island.
Rose Island is a long narrow island just to the east of Nassau. It’s a little Out Island feeling near the hustle and bustle of the city.
Sandy Toes has boat transportation located at the ferry terminal by the Paradise Island bridge on the Paradise Island side, right next to the Margaritaville restaurant. The relaxing boat ride takes you through the harbour and in about 25-30 minutes you’ll be stepping off the boat onto Rose Island–a wonderful beach day waiting for you.
During this most recent trip out to Sandy Toes I was joined by the lovely Castaway Crystal and my good friends the Caribbean Soul Trekkers. We were all excited for perfect beach bar day, some rum, and Bahamian relaxation.
Once off the boat, guests are treated to a complimentary Sandy Toe, their signature cocktail. The recipe is coming soon!
We grabbed out drink and made our way to the beach bar side on the island. The view you get when you get to the beach bar side of the island is unreal. I literally stood on the deck staring out at the blue.
Here’s Castaway Crystal with a couple Sandy Toes cocktails.
We then grabbed a couple cold Sands beers and Castaway Crystal and I set out for a little beach exploration. I love exploring unnamed naked beaches, you never know what you’re going to find. Flip Flops, boat lines, half a boat…just a little of everything. But exploring where few others have is what makes it special. You get that true castaway feeling.
Glad it’s not my boat!
After the beach walk, we came back and found the Soul Trekkers and Jordan, one of the managers, touring the Sandy Toes guest house.
This two bedroom two-bath cottage can be rented out, giving guests amazing views and a near private island experience. Who’s interested? I’ll come out and be your bartender!
The house had these two raised platforms on each side that were taller than the house itself. Each offering stunning views of the blue Bahamian waters. On one side was a swinging bed that simply took our breath away. You can’t help but let your imagination run wild with something like that.
For some reason, touring the guest house made us all super thirsty. We marched down a little trail that lead right to the bar. We ordered more Sandy Toes drinks with our new Tervis Tumblers and settled in. Mango Eddie had Jordan make mine with 151 rum, a request I was hesitant to agree to, but when in the islands you do as you must.
Cheers Mango Eddie!
Me and Mango Eddie contemplating big ideas.
Thank you for all your hospitality Jordan!
Where’s Passion fruit Sista?!
I have a feeling our crew could have stayed there all day, maybe multiple days now that we know they have a guest cottage. But I had to get back to the Rum Festival to fulfill my rum judge duties. We loaded up in the Sandy Toes go-fast center console and headed back to Nassau.
If you’re ever visiting Nassau, I highly recommend a trip out to Sandy Toes. It really is a slice of the “real” Bahamas right next to the hustle of downtown Nassau.
