The Caribbean is a majestic and magical place. Each island giving you a different taste of culture, history, scenery, and activities. Some islands are known for their AI Resorts, others their off-the-grid secluded serenity.

If your idea of a Caribbean escape has you hiking through lush rainforests, swimming in mountain pools fed by towering waterfalls, and exploring the rich history of the Caribbean–then let me introduce you to the Nature Island…Dominica.

Dominica sights

Better yet, let me introduce you to Yuri Jones, founder of Embrace Dominica, a website dedicated to promoting Dominica. Yuri is a talented Dominican photographer that wants nothing else but to show people the beauty of his home island. To do this he has created a coffee table photo book that illustrates the raw, unspoiled beauty of this small island country.

But to give people the opportunity to always have Dominica’s splendor on display at home, he has started a Kickstarter campaign to help with the printing cost of producing such a high-resolution, high-quality story album.

Here is what Yuri had to say to me when I asked about his project.

“This project will be the first of its kind in Dominica in terms of quality and scale. It is my deepest wish to create awareness of Dominica’s beauty. It means a lot to me, not just because it’s my first photo-book, but because I truly believe that it could significantly impact Dominica’s visibility on an international level.”

“If you’re not able to pledge money towards the project, please share it all over your social media channels so that everyone you know finds out about it. Please remember this: Kickstarter is “all or nothing”, meaning that if the project does not succeed, the book will not be published.”

“Thank you for spreading the word about Majestic and Magical.”

The book is a culmination of 3 year’s work, with images of more than 20 different locations around Dominica. Now launched on Kickstarter, Jones is encouraging the public to support the project by pledging money in exchange for rewards such as a signed copy of the book.

The campaign got to its $1,000 milestone on Sunday 19th June. Of the campaign’s success and challenges, Jones said, “I am very grateful to the supporters who came on board early on to bring this campaign past the $1,000 mark; however, we still have a long way to go. The book features Dominica’s scenery in the best way possible and shows why she is the ‘Nature Island of the Caribbean.’ Every family should own at least one copy of Majestic and Magical!”

I have the ebook and all I say is wow. I have not yet been to Dominica, but after looking and reading through this book, the island is calling to me even more now. It takes you on a journey from Caribbean coast to Atlantic coast, from the North to South and every in between. It’s beautiful.

If you have been to Dominica or are wanting to, this will be perfect for you and your home.

Cheers!
