If you’ve ever been on a Caribbean cruise, then you know it’s the perfect opportunity to get away from craziness of every day life and travel across some of the most beautiful waters in the world.

Yet time after time, whenever I talk with couples and families that get back from Caribbean cruises I seem to hear the same thing: “The cruise was great, but I wish we would have been a bit more prepared for making the most of the ports.”

And you know what? They are right. You only get a limited time in each port, so you really need to have a game plan to make the most of your time. Having a well-planned port experience is the key for turning your Caribbean cruise experience from good to unforgettable.

To help, I thought I’d put together a blog post that highlights the absolute Must-Do’s while on a Caribbean cruise to three popular destinations; Colon, Panama – St. Croix, USVI – Cozumel, Mexico.

Whether it’s a one-of-a kind attraction, succulent food at a romantic restaurant or an unforgettable excursion, this list has a little something for even the most experienced Caribbean cruise veterans.

So read on and find out 3 Must Do’s while at these Caribbean cruise ports.

Must Do Attraction: Chagres National Park, Colon, Panama

Colon Panama rainforest tour

There’s nothing quite like exploring the Panamanian rainforest. The fresh air, the luscious trees, the vibrant exotic animals, and the unique culture.

I have Colon at the top for a reason. This city is right next to what might be two of the most wildlife-rich rainforests in the entire Caribbean: the Gamboa Rainforest preserve and the Chagres National Park.

You’re going to want to have a guide or some sort of excursion to make the most of your rainforest adventure. Do your research and read the reviews so you get the best tour and guide experience available. Top cruise company, Celebrity’s Caribbean cruises, offers fun one of a kind opportunities like cruising through rainforests on an aerial tram.

Must Do Restaurant: Zion Modern Kitchen, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands

St. Croix’s Zion Modern Kitchen has all you need no matter whether you’re a hard-core foodie or simply looking for a romantic spot to spend with your significant other.

The kitchen is out in the open which means that you can watch chefs work their magic putting together your meal as you sit back, relax and have a drink or two.

As far as food goes, I recommend going with the rack of lamb. Not only is the lamb mouth-watering, but it also comes with their mouth-watering chimichurri sauce. If you’re looking for immediate service, be sure to call in for a reservation, otherwise the full-service bar features talented bartenders that can mix-up up incredible cocktails. Of course, I recommend going with something that features rum!

Must Do Excursion:  Sailing & Snorkeling in Cozumel, Mexico

Snorkeling spots

Hands down – if you’re not going on a sailing or snorkeling adventure, then you’re not doing a Caribbean cruise right! And there’s no better place for exploring marine life than the crystal clear waters of Cozumel, Mexico.

If you choose a quality cruise experience like the Celebrity cruise mentioned above then you’ll have a private boat all to yourself, along with a captain and first mate ready to guide you through the an amazing day of water fun! Perfect for families or group couples.

So there you have it. Three Must Do’s while visiting the Caribbean cruise ports of Colon, St. Croix and Cozumel.
